Terms of Service
Last updated: May 27, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the FindIP.Net website and IP intelligence API (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
FindIP.Net provides a free REST API that returns intelligence signals for a given IPv4 or IPv6 address. These signals include:
- Geolocation — country, city, subdivision, continent, coordinates, time zone, postal code, ISP, ASN, and connection type.
- Anonymisation detection — identification of proxy (HTTP, SOCKS4, SOCKS5, residential), VPN (entry/exit), Tor (exit/relay), and privacy relay (relay, DNS relay) infrastructure.
- Threat intelligence — classification of IP addresses associated with brute force attacks, spam, botnets, malware command-and-control, phishing, DDoS, credential stuffing, and web attacks.
- Infrastructure classification — identification of datacenter, hosting provider, public DNS resolver, public DoH endpoint, and network scanner addresses.
Accuracy disclaimer
All data returned by the API is approximate and probabilistic. This is especially important for threat and anonymisation signals:
- Geolocation is city-level at best and should never be used to pinpoint a specific physical address or individual.
- Threat classifications (malicious, proxy, VPN, Tor, etc.) are derived from third-party feeds and heuristics. False positives occur. An IP flagged as malicious or as a VPN exit may belong to a legitimate user. Classifications reflect network-level signals, not confirmed bad intent by any individual.
- Infrastructure classifications (hosting, datacenter) are estimates and may be incomplete or out of date.
We make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data returned by the API. Do not use API data as the sole basis for consequential decisions such as permanently blocking users, denying service, or making legal or financial determinations about individuals.
Availability
The Service is provided free of charge with no uptime guarantee. We may take it offline for maintenance or any other reason at any time, with or without notice.
2. Account and API Key
Accessing the API requires a registered account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate information when registering.
- Verify your email address before using your API key.
- Keep your API key private — never expose it in client-side code, public repositories, or anywhere accessible to third parties.
- Take responsibility for all API calls made using your key.
- Contact us promptly if you believe your key has been compromised.
You may not share, sell, or transfer your API key or account to any other person or entity.
3. Acceptable Use
You may only use the Service for lawful purposes. The following are prohibited:
- Harm to individuals — using IP intelligence data to harass, stalk, surveil, discriminate against, or target specific individuals.
- Wrongful blocking based solely on threat flags — permanently denying access to users or services based exclusively on a single API signal without human review or additional corroborating evidence.
- Illegal activity — using the Service to facilitate fraud, identity theft, unauthorized access to computer systems, or any other illegal activity.
- Resale of API access — reselling, sublicensing, or redistributing raw API access or bulk data to third parties without our written consent.
- Infrastructure abuse — sending requests in a volume or pattern that unreasonably burdens our infrastructure, or deliberately circumventing any rate limits we implement.
- Attacks and exploitation — using the Service in connection with cyberattacks, scraping campaigns, spam, or probing and hacking our systems.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we believe you are violating these rules, with or without prior notice.
4. Free Tier
The Service is currently free with no daily, monthly, or lifetime request limits. We reserve the right to introduce usage limits, rate limits, or paid tiers at any time. We will post notice on the website before doing so. Continued use after any change takes effect means you accept the new terms.
5. Intellectual Property
All rights to the Service — including the website, software, API, and underlying data compilations — belong to FindIP.Net. These Terms give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for your own purposes. You do not acquire any ownership rights in the data or the Service.
6. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you agree to the data practices described there.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITH NO WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND WHATSOEVER, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE. WE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. ALL GEOLOCATION DATA, THREAT INTELLIGENCE SIGNALS, ANONYMISATION DETECTION, AND INFRASTRUCTURE CLASSIFICATIONS ARE PROBABILISTIC ESTIMATES DERIVED FROM THIRD-PARTY FEEDS AND HEURISTICS — THEY MAY BE WRONG, INCOMPLETE, OR OUT OF DATE. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE AVAILABLE, UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE AT ANY TIME. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE AND ANY RELIANCE ON DATA RETURNED BY THE API IS ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.
8. Limitation of Liability
THE SERVICE IS FREE. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, FINDIP.NET AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND CONTRACTORS SHALL HAVE ZERO LIABILITY TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY FOR ANY CLAIM OF ANY KIND ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS. THIS ABSOLUTE EXCLUSION COVERS:
- ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES;
- LOSS OF REVENUE, PROFIT, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY;
- DECISIONS MADE ON THE BASIS OF INACCURATE, INCOMPLETE, OR STALE API DATA;
- FALSE POSITIVE OR FALSE NEGATIVE THREAT, PROXY, VPN, TOR, OR ANY OTHER CLASSIFICATION;
- WRONGFUL BLOCKING OR DENIAL OF SERVICE TO YOUR END USERS BASED ON API SIGNALS;
- SERVICE OUTAGES, DOWNTIME, OR DISCONTINUATION;
- UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO YOUR ACCOUNT OR API KEY.
THIS EXCLUSION APPLIES REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY — CONTRACT, TORT, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE — AND EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IF YOU ARE DISSATISFIED WITH THE SERVICE FOR ANY REASON, YOUR SOLE REMEDY IS TO STOP USING IT.
9. Indemnification
You agree to fully indemnify, defend, and hold harmless FindIP.Net and its owners, employees, and contractors from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of or access to the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) any decision, action, or product you build or operate using data returned by the API; (d) claims by your end users related to how you use the API data; or (e) your violation of any applicable law or third-party right. This indemnification obligation survives termination of your account.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, for any reason, with or without notice. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections 7, 8, 9, and 11 survive termination.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which FindIP.Net operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time by posting a revised version on this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
