Know which Shopify storefront visitors come from VPNs, proxies and bot networks

FindIP Shield for Shopify scores every consented storefront visit in real time for VPN, proxy, Tor, datacenter and known-malicious sources, in one dashboard with country and network. It installs from the App Store, needs no theme edits, and never touches customer, order, cart or payment data.

VPN Proxy Tor Datacenter traffic Malicious IP Country and network per session
The problem

Storefront analytics count sessions. They do not say what kind.

A spike in sessions that never converts, a flood of visits from one hosting provider, a region that suddenly appears in your traffic: Shopify analytics show the volume, not the network behind it.

Shield adds that layer. Each consented storefront visit is scored from its network, with the reason, so you can tell a scraping run from a sale season and a proxy pool from a new market.

It is deliberately narrow. The app runs as a Web Pixel inside the Shopify sandbox, which means it reports; it cannot read your pages, forms or checkout, and it cannot block anything.

What Shield shows you

The evidence, then the response you choose

Every consented visit, scored

page_view and session_start events for storefront visits, each with VPN, proxy, Tor, hosting and malicious-IP signals, country and network. Nothing fires where Shopify has not permitted analytics processing.

One dashboard for the store

Sessions, risk reasons and network context in the Shield dashboard, alongside any other site you protect. Attributed to your store by event source.

Metadata only, by design

A session-scoped random identifier, the visitor IP from the connection, and limited event metadata. No names, emails, customer IDs, order details, cart contents or payment data, ever.

Setup

Install from the Shopify App Store in three steps

For any Shopify store. Requires a free FindIP account with a Shield site for your storefront domain; setup takes about two minutes.

Install from the App Store

Install FindIP Shield from the Shopify App Store. It asks for two minimal permissions and needs no theme edits.

Connect your Shield site

Create a free FindIP account, add a Shield site for your storefront domain, and paste the public site key into the app. The in-app connection test confirms the Web Pixel is live.

See every consented visit scored

Storefront visits and sessions appear in your Shield dashboard with VPN, proxy, Tor, hosting and malicious-IP signals, country and network.

Prefer another route? Run WooCommerce instead? The WordPress plugin adds checkout context too.

Boundaries

What a risk score is, and what it is not

An assessment, not proof. A VPN, a hosting network or a changing IP is common for privacy-conscious and corporate users too. Shield explains the reasons so you can decide; it does not pass judgement on a person.
Friction, not a security boundary. Anything decided in the browser can be bypassed by someone who controls it. For decisions that matter, verify the session from your server with your secret key.
Unknown is never safe. Where no intelligence was available the status is unknown. Shield fails open: if a decision does not arrive, the form submits as normal.
Questions

Frequently asked

No. The Web Pixel runs in the Shopify sandbox and only reports. Shield shows you what the traffic is; any action on your store stays with you and your other Shopify tools.

None of the direct identifiers. It sends the visitor IP from the network connection, a session-scoped random identifier, and limited event metadata depending on the privacy mode. Names, emails, customer IDs, orders, carts and payment data are never sent.
